Dislocated Workers

Dislocated workers may qualify for a variety of job search and training services

You may be a dislocated worker if you have been permanently laid off or if you have received a notice of termination or layoff from employment. Dislocated workers may qualify for a variety of job search and training services from PA CareerLink® of Lancaster County. As a dislocated worker, we can help you get back to work through three types of services that are available to you at no cost.

Unemployment Compensation Services

Applying for unemployment compensation benefits is easy! Ways to file include:

  • Online: Complete an online application using our secure website 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • Phone: Call the statewide toll-free number at 1-888-313-7284.

Trade Act Programs and Services

If your layoff was created or affected by international trade, you may be eligible for training funds and additional unemployment compensation benefits.

The US Department of Labor website can give you basic information or contact CareerLink® for information on your specific situation.  Additional information can be found on the PA Department of Labor & Industry website.

Training Services

If you qualify for Training Services, you will have access to a broad range of training services. PA CareerLink® has an extensive list of training programs, descriptions, and costs to help guide you in the decision-making process. Training includes:

  • Occupational skills training
  • On-the-Job training
  • Apprenticeships
  • Work experience
  • Transitional jobs

Personalized Services

All job seekers have access to Self Services and Enhanced Services that are available at the PA CareerLink® of Lancaster County Center. If these core services do not produce results in job search, you may be eligible for Personalized Services. These services include:

  • Job search assistance with a Business Service Representative
  • Professional resume development
  • One-year follow-up / retention services
  • Development of Individual Employment Plans
  • TABE ® assessments
  • Individual counseling and career planning with a Career Navigator
  • Basic skills remediation
  • Direct referrals to ESL, literacy, education, and community partners
  • Career decision making and exploration
  • Supportive services during program participation
