When organizations show up, hope multiplies and the community thrives. PA CareerLink® Lancaster County proved that small acts of kindness can ripple into big change.
This holiday season, PA CareerLink® Lancaster County wanted to push a bit further and give back more to the community. Throughout the past few months there have been many opportunities that PA CareerLink® staff have embraced to give back to the community whether it be sponsoring a tree at Penn Medicine Park to raise funds for Alice’s Kitchen (an area that those in need who visit PA CareerLink® can grab some food with no questions asked), volunteering time during an all-staff meeting at various local organizations, or even gathering various toys for Toys for Tots Lancaster so local children can have a good holiday season.
During the December all-staff meeting, we had our team divide into groups and help at four local organizations, whether that were cleaning tasks, packing meals with care and compassion, or even gift wrapping. Our teams had a blast getting out of the office and making a difference in the Lancaster County community outside of job searching. After this meeting, the leadership from Lancaster County Workforce Development Board and PA CareerLink® Lancaster County saw that the Toy for Tots Lancaster needed help gathering toys for local children who wouldn’t have gifts this holiday season without the community’s help. Within 24 hours, our team graciously donated a variety of toys for different ages and filled up two bins and then some!
We are forever grateful for the giving hearts of our team members and how they are always actively looking for ways to give back to the community and support the county that they love. Throughout the year our staff donate various goods to go into Alice’s Kitchen for clients to utilize if they are in need of food to assist them during their job search, and many are volunteers in their personal time for various organizations.
Although the holiday season is a big time for those to give back to the community, PA CareerLink® Lancaster County gives back all year long. We understand that during the job search process, the community is a pivotal part of succeeding. That is why we enjoy any moment that we can give back and assist the Lancaster community.
