They say that dedication is key to reaching your goals – that is how Loralei reached her goals after being unemployed.

When Lorelei came to PA CareerLink® Lancaster County, she was selected by unemployment to participate in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) Program. She came in with a goal of seeking employment in higher education but came in with an open mind to explore her career options. With dedication and eagerness, she started with her Career Navigator to see what the future holds for her.

Since joining the RESEA program, Lorelei took advantage of the programs and resources available to her through PA CareerLink® including participating in the workshops offered and the Career Connections Program; a weeklong class that teaches the ins and outs of job searching. With the skills Lorelei learned, she felt prepared for any interview that she would participate in.

After a month of being in the program, she already had an interview that she participated in that included a presentation and was waiting to hear back. During that time, a position opened up within PA CareerLink® Lancaster County for a Youth Navigator for Equus. She took a chance to apply to this position and interview. Soon after, Lorelei received an offer for the position which she took immediately!

“Losing my job due to position elimination was a shock. But thanks to PA CareerLink Lancaster County, I found the support, encouragement, and practical tools I needed to get back on track. Their workshops are top-notch—truly transformative. And now, I’ve come full circle: I’m proud to be part of the very team that helped me recover. Talk about a happy ending!”

Lorelei is now 3 months into her role as a Youth Navigator and loving it so far. Although it is not a position directly within higher education, Lorelei is excited to continue working with the youth community to help them obtain skills and opportunities for employment in their career pathway.

“I personally feel that Lorelei’s success is partially attributable to her willingness to seek and utilize the maximum assistance available to her. She stayed in touch with multiple people from different programs, in addition to continuing her work searches and applications. She is definitely an asset to the PA CareerLink team!” — said Kurt Dock, Career Advisor of the RESEA Program at PA CareerLink® Lancaster County.
