We all know that job searching can be incredibly stressful. Searching, tracking, editing, and waiting for a response. While focusing on all of this, it can create a sense of loneliness and can make many feel like they are the only ones dealing with this rough job market. We are here to tell you; you are not alone! Many Americans are going through this, and it can take a toll on your mental health.
In response to the current job market and many of our clients experiencing these types of emotions, our Behavioral Health Advocate, Jennifer Griffith, founded a support group that meets every month called Forward Together.
“I started Forward Together because I received feedback from some local jobseekers that there is a sense of being alone in trying to find work, particularly when you’ve been at it for a while. It can feel isolating when you see others finding work in what feels like a quick amount of time but still be struggling with finding work yourself after some time. My hope for Forward Together was that we could come together and share our successes and struggles, network, and figure out how to use our coping skills and resources to move forward. Since starting Forward Together, I have found that people find it to be a supportive community group and we continue to grow.”
Forward Together is a support group that not only builds community but also helps with providing tips and tricks on how to counter the loneliness blues and keep up with your mental health. Job searching is not only about staying diligent on applications, but also making sure you are staying diligent on self-care so you can show up the best you can for any interview.
