What is better than getting a youth active in the summer? Earning while they are learning how to be the best they can be in the workforce!
Being a youth can be an overwhelming time in their lives. Deciding what they want to do as a future career, whether college is a good fit, or if entering the workforce immediately is the best for them. There is a LOT to think about in this transitional time. That’s why PA CareerLink Lancaster County’s Summer Earn and Learn Program could be a great fit for your youth!
What is the Earn and Learn Summer Program?
The Earn and Learn Program is exactly what it sounds like; a summer program where youths, ages 14 – 24, attend a certain number of days and earn stipends while learning about workforce development and gaining skills for the workforce!
In this six-week program, participants in two groups will be running; one for youth ages 14 – 15 which will be focused on career exploration and one for youth 16 – 24 which will be focused on summer employment.
Okay, it sounds like a good program… but what will my youth gain?
That is a great question! There are a lot of skills and resources that we have planned for this program to help your youth be the best they can be and prepared for entering the workforce. Here is what you can expect your youth to gain from these two programs!
14 – 15 Career Exploration Program
- Building of essentially soft for job success
- Exploration of various career fields
- Development of leadership and entrepreneur skills
- Knowledge about the labor market and employment opportunities
- Mentorship on any workforce related items needed
16 – 24 Summer Employment Program
- Gain hands-on work experience
- Develop job skills and work ethics
- Earn income while building up your resume
- Enhance communication and team building skills
- Mentorship on any workforce related items needed
