High Priority Occupations

Over the last several years, leaders of the workforce investment system in Pennsylvania have been concerned about focusing the investment of the public sector in employment and training services for the key industries that are important to the economy of the Commonwealth. We have identified the important industry groups but, recently, we have pushed further as we have looked at the occupations within our priority employers.

High priority occupations are good jobs... high skill and high pay... where there will be significant vacancies due to growth and the need to replace retiring in the next decade. Many of these jobs do not require a 4-year college degree but they do require additional training beyond high school.

We think that they are great career choices for people looking for a job change
