Career Planning Seminar

The first step on your way to employment! This is where you will find out about the employment services offered at the PA CareerLink of Lancaster County and how to begin to access them. Attend this 1½ hour session and schedule an appointment with a Re-Employment Coach to determine your next step!

  • Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Mastering Employment Applications/So, You Have an Interview! Now, What?

Two workshops in one 2-hour session, giving information on getting results with your application and interviews that lead to job offers. Find out the basics at this information-filled workshop.

  • Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon
  • Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Landing a Job with a Criminal Background

It is possible to overcome this barrier to employment! Find out how to handle this question on applications and, just as important, learn when and what to say during an interview. Knowledge in this area will help you become more confident while looking for your next job. Time is included for one-on-one feedback about your particular situation.

  • Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

RMO Re-entry Course

This course is for individuals with a criminal record who have encountered barriers to success and want to learn skills and get information on resources that can help become productive citizens and remain crime free. The full Course consists of 6 two-hour sessions for a total of 12 hours of training. Individuals who complete all six sessions will receive a certificate from the Lancaster County Reentry Management Organization (RMO). Participants in each individual session will also receive a mini-certificate for that session. Participants may choose to attend any or all of these individual sessions. Here are the six sessions: Housing, Transportation and Managing Your Money; Legal and Community Resources; Family Responsibility and Parenting; Getting Along With Yourself and Others; Health Care and Mental Health; Addiction and Wellness.

  • Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays every other month

The Power of Positive Language – Managing Your Job Loss

Angry over why you aren't working? Can't understand why you aren't getting interviews or job offers? Frustrated because employers won't talk with you? Feeling anxious about how to do your job search? Don't know where to turn to get answers? Learn how to develop the habit of positive self-talk and increase your motivation to conduct an effective job search.

  • Last Monday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Resume Workshop

Confused over all the information on the Internet and other places, including from friends and family, about how to write your resume? Attend this workshop and learn methods that have helped thousands of people win job opportunities. Have you created a resume that entices an employer to call you in for an interview? If not, find out why! Included in the workshop are useful details about cover letters and references. This 2-hour session is open to everyone. Please note attendance is required for those planning to conduct their job search through the Job Search Center.

Quick Resume Review*

Have you attended Resume Workshop and revised your resume, but are still not confident that your resume will win you an interview? At this workshop, you will receive individualized feedback from an expert in resume writing. If this sounds like a good idea, register by bringing your resume to the Lancaster PA CareerLink Reception Area 2 hours before the session starts. *10-person capacity and attendance at Resume Workshop is a prerequisite for this session.

Computer Skills for Jobseekers

Are you uncertain about how to use a computer? This workshop gives those with limited computer skills the tools needed to find work using a computer.

  • Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Digital Literacy Classes  (Basic Computer Class)

This course begins with a 2hr. instruction session on computer basics. After completing the instruction portion, participants are given access to a self-paced tutorial computer program, which can be accessed in the Ready2Work computer lab.

  • 2nd Monday of every month (unless this Monday is a holiday, then the 3rd Monday of the month) - 9AM (walk-ins welcome, pre-registration not required)

Financial Education Workshop

Budgeting: Making a Money Plan That Works. This course presented by Tabor Community Services gives tips and advice for designing a balanced budget and offers the opportunity to participate in budgeting exercises. Attendees are given the tools to create their own personalized budget, including recommended spending figures.

Savings: Making Your Money Work for You. As an introduction to savings, this course presented by Tabor Community Services teaches the importance of: setting up a savings goal, starting a savings plan and budget, and becoming knowledgeable about the different types of savings accounts and programs, including accounts with interest.

Banking Basics. This course presented by Tabor Community Services introduces attendees to banking by learning how to set up and use a bank account, read statements, and balance a checking account.

Good Credit and How to Get It. This course presented by Tabor Community Services emphasizes the importance of having good credit. Attendees will learn how to request and read a credit report, as well as how to correct errors. The class will discuss ways to establish and maintain a good credit rating.
