Does attire matter in an interview? http://t.co/3VymaxNl
Welcome to the Veterans' Resources Section
For the most part, the services available to Veteran and Military Personnel are the same services available to the general public. Veterans should connect with the PA CareerLink of Lancaster County for career counseling, skill assessment and enrichment, training, and placement activities. Contact 717-509-5613 ext. 257 to speak to a Vet Rep.
However, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania gives priority to veterans as they engage the PA CareerLink system (download Priority of Service policy). It also provides Local Veteran Employment Representatives to assist veterans in finding work as well as Disabled Veteran Outreach Specialists to help veterans who may have barriers to employment including issues related to past incarceration, homelessness, disabilities, mental health problems, and drug and alcohol use and abuse.
Each of these Veterans staff persons can speak to benefits, placement advantages, veteran employment, and hiring categories.
When You Come to the PA CareerLink...
We encourage you to identify yourself as a veteran when you come to the PA CareerLink. You may ask to see a Local Veteran Employment Representative when you walk in the door or you may choose to move through the process of registration and connect with a Vet staff person later.
For the most part, the Veteran Services staff will let you know what you need to bring at the point where you engage them but you will want to bring at least your discharge papers with you for your first interview with one of them.
In addition, we suggest that you look at certain key websites so that you have some idea of the benefits that are available to you...
- Veterans Administration
- VA Disability Information
- VA GI Bill Information
- VA Vocational Rehabilitation Information
- Commonwealth of PA Civil Service
- Federal Jobs
- PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs
There are a variety of other websites that have more information. Many of those can be found in the column to the left of this article.
